Authorities in eastern Libya have intensified their campaign against migration, deporting hundreds of Sudanese migrants, including 700 recently detained individuals due to health, criminal, or security issues.

This is part of a broader initiative to combat human trafficking under military leader Khalifa Hifter. The Libyan coast guard intercepted a boat carrying 80 migrants attempting to reach Europe, and raids on trafficking sites have led to rescues.

Following the instability in Libya since the 2011 uprising, the country has become a significant transit hub for people fleeing conflict and poverty. Over 240,000 Sudanese migrants are currently residing in Libya due to recent conflicts in Sudan.
