Liberia celebrated its 178th Independence Day on July 26, 2025, at the Centennial Memorial Pavilion in Monrovia, attended by Presidents from Senegal, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Guinea-Bissau, along with representatives from Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria.

The event highlighted gratitude towards ECOWAS member states for their support during Liberia’s civil conflict, particularly acknowledging countries that contributed to the ECOMOG peacekeeping mission.

The Gambia was awarded for its role in peacekeeping, with Dr. Ismaila Ceesay accepting the award on behalf of President Adama Barrow, who expressed commitment to regional peace and stability.
