On November 25, 2025, The Gambia officially launched the Africa Integrated Climate Risk Management (AICRM) Program at the SDKJ-ICC. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Agriculture through the ROOTS Project, this initiative aims to bolster resilience and enhance food and water security for 40,000 smallholder farmers across 39 districts.
The program is part of the Great Green Wall Initiative, which supports seven Sahel countries, and has a budget of $20.3 million, including $11.7 million in grant funding from the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
The AICRM Program focuses on land restoration, agricultural revitalization, market development, and nutrition, and aligns with The Gambia’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and Climate Policy for the period from 2016 to 2025.
