In a generous display of philanthropy, GACH Global Group’s charitable arm, the Abubakary Jawara Foundation, has contributed solar plants worth D10 million to Gambissara, the hometown of its CEO. Mr. Abubakary Jawara provided the funding for the project to enhance electricity distribution in the Upper River Region settlement.

To ensure universal access to the plant, the foundation procured a transformer to address the longstanding issue of intermittent electricity supply that has plagued the community for years. In addition to the solar plant, the foundation also bestowed 400 poles to provide power to the entire village, demonstrating its dedication to improving the infrastructure necessary for consistent power supply and acknowledging the crucial role of electricity in community development and well-being.

The foundation has sought technical assistance from Nawec to facilitate the installation and integration of the transformer into the existing grid. The foundation believes that the transformer’s installation will enrich the lives of Gambissara residents and contribute to the overall development of the Upper River Region by bolstering local businesses and services that rely on a stable power supply.

Additionally, the foundation presented the village with three groundnut shelling machines valued at over D3 million. Mr. Jawara’s commitment to giving back to his hometown is genuinely inspiring. He states that Gambissara has given me everything, so it is only fitting that he also gives back from the little he has managed to acquire. The intervention will help alleviate some of their electricity supply challenges.
