Commissioner General Yankuba Darboe confirmed to ARPS Media that the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) has achieved its revenue target of D19.2 billion for 2024.
Last year, the government raised the authority’s revenue target to D19.2 billion for 2024, up from D15.7 billion in 2023, reflecting GRA’s strong track record in revenue collection. “By the end of November, we have already reached our target of D19.2 billion. This is remarkable, as many believed it would be impossible to achieve,” said CG Darboe, adding: “We will continue to pursue additional collections throughout December.”
He attributed the agency’s impressive performance to various reforms and collaborative efforts with the business community. In 2023, GRA surpassed its revenue goal, collecting D15.7 billion, a 24% increase from the previous year.
CG Darboe emphasized that this success results from teamwork, support from stakeholders, and substantial investments in capacity building within the GRA. He underlined the significance of innovation and ongoing partnerships in striving towards future revenue objectives. Darboe also stressed the necessity of staff commitment and collaboration to sustain this momentum as they prepare for upcoming challenges.
