GPF wraps up outreach program in Urr to combat gender-based violence

The Gambia Police Force completed a school and community outreach program in the Upper River Region on December 18, 2025, as part of its Zero Tolerance Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness about child protection, sexual and gender-based violence, and responsible social media use in schools, including Sabi and St. Joseph Lower Basic Schools. Officers highlighted community policing, early crime reporting, and the importance of police-community partnerships.

Topics addressed included child marriage, the rights of women and children, online safety, evidence preservation in GBV cases, and the legal implications of such violence. The program aimed to create safer learning environments, strengthen community ties, and affirm the police’s commitment to protecting children and preventing crime.
