Gambia’s Finance Minister Assumed the Chair of the African IMF/World Bank Caucus

Hon. Seedy K.M. Keita, Gambia’s Finance Minister, was named Chairperson of the 2025 IMF-World Bank African Caucus in Bangui, focusing on resilient infrastructure and green assets, with The Gambia announced as the 2026 host to advance sustainable development.

Hon. Seedy K.M. Keita, Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs of The Gambia, was appointed Chairperson of the African Caucus of the IMF and World Bank following the 2025 conference in Bangui, Central African Republic.

The Caucus focused on “Resilient Infrastructure, Human Capital, and Green Asset” as key elements for sustainable development in Africa, emphasizing the need for innovative financing to address the continent’s infrastructure deficit.

Participants, including finance ministers and development partners, called for increased concessional financing and highlighted the structural disparities in the global financial system that affect African countries.

A consensus was reached to implement reforms to boost private sector investment in infrastructure. Additionally, The Gambia announced it will host the African Caucus in 2026.
