His funeral in Bakau attracted many mourners, including Willy Abraham, the president of Real de Banjul, and former Minister of Justice Ba Tambedou, both of whom lauded Njie’s contributions to football and highlighted his generosity. Njie’s sister, Anty Ndeye Njie, and childhood friend, Waka Jaigne, expressed their profound sorrow at his passing.

Some attendees voiced their disappointment with the government for not organizing a state funeral and noted the Minister of Youths and Sports’s absence.
