Gambia Teachers’ Union Holds Annual Meeting in Brikama

The Gambia Teachers’ Union Cooperative Credit Union (GTUCCU) held its AGM in Brikama, discussing achievements, financial reports, and salary negotiations, reinforcing transparency and financial inclusion with over 118,000 members and 1.8 billion Dalasi in savings.

The Gambia Teachers’ Union Cooperative Credit Union (GTUCCU) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Babucarr O. Joof Conference Hall in Brikama, where delegates discussed the union’s achievements, reviewed financial reports, and planned for the upcoming year.

The AGM is required by the National Association of Cooperative Credit Unions of The Gambia (NACCUG) to ensure transparency and accountability.

Key highlights included reviewing salary negotiations and collaborating with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

GTUCCU CEO Dawda Kujabi acknowledged member concerns and assured improvements, while NACCUG CEO Foday Sanyang reported 118,000 members and savings of over 1.8 billion Dalasi.

GTU President Ismaila Ceesay urged timely loan repayments to facilitate future borrowing, and Alkali Barrow from the Central Bank of The Gambia emphasized the role of credit unions in promoting financial inclusion and economic growth.
