Farmers Get 60 Tractors Through Government-Yonna Agribusiness Partnership

On August 16, President Adama Barrow presented 60 tractors to Gambian farmers as part of a strategy to acquire 180 tractors aimed at modernizing agriculture and improving food self-sufficiency.

The funding model involves the government covering 25% of the costs, farmers contributing another 25%, and Yonna Microfinance financing the remaining 50%, to be repaid over four years.

Barrow emphasized the importance of agricultural productivity and urged proper use of the equipment.

Muhammad Manjang from Yonna Group confirmed their commitment to providing training and maintenance to support the initiative’s sustainability.
