Families of the 346 victims from two Boeing 737 Max crashes attended a court hearing in Texas concerning the government’s request to dismiss criminal charges against Boeing, which is accused of misleading regulators about a faulty system.

Although Boeing had previously settled for $2.5 billion, new allegations have surfaced, with a proposed deal involving a $1.1 billion payment for fines and victim compensation.

Some families oppose this deal, fearing it would let Boeing evade accountability. The Justice Department may refile charges if Boeing fails to comply within two years.
