Police in South Africa are investigating a tavern shooting in Durban that left eight customers dead on Saturday, May 17.
The attack occurred late Friday and highlights the country’s high murder rate, with about 75 murders happening daily. The victims, aged 22 to 40, had multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation is ongoing, and gun violence is often associated with gang activity, illegal firearms, and alcohol. Recent incidents also include family-targeted killings and the abduction of a U.S. missionary.
