Digital technologies

The Gambian government is focused on transforming the agricultural sector, especially the groundnut value chain, in preparation for the 2025 groundnut season.

Key initiatives include investing in new motorized screening machines to reduce post-harvest losses and enhancing market value through digital technologies, such as Point of Sale (POS) devices, to improve transaction transparency and promote financial inclusion in rural areas.

Training for farmers is also ongoing to help them utilize these technologies effectively. The digital system was launched on December 5, 2025, with involvement from various stakeholders.
