China-Gambia Bantaba: A two-week Seminar in Beijing to Promote Sino-Gambian Relations in the Media Sector

The Chinese Embassy in The Gambia held its 5th China-Gambia Bantaba. This event allowed Gambian media professionals to share their experiences from a two-week seminar in Beijing.

The group comprised members from various media organizations and participated in the “Seminar for Senior Media Personnel from English-speaking African Countries.” The seminar covered topics like China’s modernization, media integration, and new broadcasting technologies.

Lassana Tunkara, the Deputy Director General of QTV, called the seminar educational and impactful. He highlighted key sessions, including a talk on constructive journalism by Professor Zhang.

The delegation also visited essential sites, such as Tiananmen Square and Yucun Village, to observe how China balances environmental protection with economic growth.

Tunkara noted the value of the personal connections made during the trip, mentioning the friendships formed. He also discussed the broader relationship between China and Africa, emphasizing the importance of collaboration.

Tunkara announced plans to establish a Gambian chapter of a global network for constructive journalism alongside Professor Zhang.
