Adoption of the Dakar Declaration

Her Excellency Fatoumata Bah-Barrow attended The Gambia Adolescent Girls Call for Action at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Conference Center, where the Dakar Declaration was adopted.

The event focused on the challenges and aspirations of girls, emphasizing Gambia’s commitment to their rights. Bah-Barrow called for courage and collaboration to empower girls, acknowledged progress in education and protection, and recognized ongoing barriers.

She pledged to work with UNICEF and other partners to improve access to essential services and stressed the importance of community involvement in supporting adolescent girls. The call to action highlighted the need for protection, equality, and opportunities for girls.
