Senegal recently experienced the loss of at least 33 lives due to traffic accidents during the Grand Magal pilgrimage, a notable increase from 16 fatalities last year (2024).
This event, important for the Mouride brotherhood, draws millions to Touba to honor their founder. The National Fire Brigade reported 341 road accidents and provided medical aid to 571 people.
