President Brice Oligui Nguema’s Democratic Union of Builders (UDB) won a majority in the national assembly by securing 55 out of 145 seats in the second round of parliamentary elections, which occurred in 77 constituencies.

The main opposition party, the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG), obtained three seats in the first round.

This election success follows Nguema’s earlier victory in the presidential election in April, marking a significant change after the August 2023 coup that ended 55 years of Bongo family rule in Gabon.
