During the 80th United Nations General Assembly, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, the Minister of Information and Media Broadcasting for The Gambia, highlighted several key points in his address:
Commitment to the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA 2022–2031) within the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Emphasis on improving post-harvest technologies in the cashew value chain.
Focus on capacity building and training for women’s and youth cooperatives.
Advancements in the National DPoA Implementation Strategy aligned with the Green Recovery Focused National Development Plan (2023–2027).
A call for assistance in climate adaptation, trade facilitation, and infrastructure development.
Dr. Ceesay stressed the importance of partnerships, solidarity, and resource mobilization for the successful implementation of the DPoA for The Gambia and other LDCs.
