Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio visited Burkina Faso’s junta leader, Capt. Ibrahim Traoré, marking the first visit by an ECOWAS leader to Burkina Faso.

Bio emphasized the importance of stronger ties and cooperation to restore peace in the country. This meeting follows the withdrawals of Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali from ECOWAS earlier this year, which have affected relations.

Analysts view the visit as a sign of growing acceptance of the breakaway group, and Bio expressed hope for continued collaboration to enhance regional stability and prosperity.
