A coalition of human rights attorneys and NGOs is suing the Eswatini government for accepting five deportees from the U.S. without parliamentary approval, claiming the agreement is unconstitutional.

The deportees, labeled as dangerous criminals, are being held in an overcrowded maximum-security prison.

The hearing has been postponed to September 25 due to the government’s failure to provide the necessary documents, while the attorney general dismissed the lawsuit.

King Mswati III asserts that the deportees pose no threat and that the agreement reflects a strong relationship with the U.S.
