Gambia Agencies Receive Training on Ethical Recruitment Frameworks

MoTIE and IOM conducted a three-day training starting June 17, 2025, to promote ethical recruitment practices, ensuring fairness and protection for Gambian migrant workers under new labor agreements with Saudi Arabia and Spain.

The Gambia Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment (MoTIE) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) conducted a three-day training on ethical recruitment for public and private agencies, commencing on June 17, 2025.

This training aimed to help agencies understand ethical practices and protect the rights of Gambian migrant workers, particularly considering new labor agreements with Saudi Arabia and Spain.

Marie Stella Ndiaye from the IOM spoke about the importance of ethical recruitment in preventing exploitation. Mr. Mamadi Dampha from MoTIE discussed the technical gaps in these agreements and highlighted the need for best practices to ensure compliance and reduce risks.

The session focused on fairness and respect for the rights of migrant workers in the global labor market.
