Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Israeli military had attacked Iran’s nuclear and military sites near Tehran. The goal was to target Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and missile factories. This operation, called “Nation of Lions,” was seen as necessary to protect Israel from threats from Iran.

Israeli military officials reported hitting “dozens” of targets. Iranian media confirmed that there were loud explosions and some casualties but did not specify how many.

Israel’s Defense Minister, Israel Katz, said they are preparing for possible retaliation from Iran, expecting missile and drone attacks against Israel. Sirens were heard across Israel, and rules were modified to prioritize essential services.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made it clear that the US was not involved in the strikes and urged Iran not to harm American interests in the area. Recently, the US moved nonessential staff out of its embassy in Baghdad and is getting ready for possible conflict depending on Iran’s reaction.

Iran’s Defense Minister warned that they would target US military bases if nuclear talks failed.
