West Africa is facing a significant food and nutrition crisis. Thirty-six million people are currently unable to meet basic food needs, which is projected to rise to over 52 million by mid-2025.
Conflicts have displaced over 10 million individuals, contributing to increased food insecurity. Food inflation makes nutritious food unaffordable in several countries, including Nigeria, Chad, and Côte d’Ivoire, while natural disasters have worsened the situation.
The World Food Programme (WFP) aims to assist nearly 12 million people but needs $710 million for critical support in the next six months.
