Foreign Affairs Minister Mamadou Tangara has committed to coordinating an emergency ministerial meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states to address the U.S.-Israel plot to remove Palestinians from Gaza forcibly.

Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump announced his desire for the United States to take “ownership” of Gaza after the war, suggesting it could be transformed into a “riviera of the Middle East.” Trump made this statement during a news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. “The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will manage it effectively,” Trump stated. “We will own it and take responsibility for dismantling all of the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on site, clearing the area, and removing the destroyed buildings to create an environment that fosters economic development and provides unlimited job opportunities.” His announcement has sparked widespread condemnation internationally.

In response, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the U.S.-Israeli plot to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from Gaza, calling on the international community to reject the scheme vehemently.

In a phone conversation with Minister Tangara late on Sunday, Araghchi reiterated his condemnation of the dangerous and criminal U.S.-Israeli plan to forcibly remove Palestinians from their homeland, stating that this inhumane strategy contradicts all international principles and regulations. He emphasized the urgent need for the international community to oppose it firmly.

The senior Iranian diplomat highlighted his discussions with the OIC Secretary-General and counterparts from Arab and Muslim nations, urging Gambia to facilitate an emergency meeting of the organization’s foreign ministers to address the issue promptly.

Responding to his counterpart’s concerns, Minister Tangara appreciated Iran’s focus on the Palestinian issue and welcomed the proposal for an emergency meeting of OIC foreign ministers. He said he would consult and coordinate with other OIC member countries regarding this urgent matter.
