Gambia and Senegal Establish New Educational Collaboration

A delegation from The Gambia, led by Minister Professor Pierre Gomez, traveled to Senegal from December 7-10, 2025, resulting in a new cooperation framework along with an Action Plan for 2025-2030 in partnership with Senegal’s Ministry of Higher Education. Outcomes include:

The provision of 50 scholarships each year for Gambian students. The introduction of exchange programs for faculty, researchers, and students. The initiation of an annual Senegal-Gambia Innovation Challenge. Collaboration between Gambia’s Centres of Excellence and Senegal’s ISEP institutes for developing curricula. Strengthened cooperation between the National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Authorities of both nations.

A Joint Technical Committee will manage the execution of these initiatives, with a mid-term review planned for 2028. The delegation accepted an invitation for a reciprocal visit to The Gambia in March 2026.
