During a recent address, President Bola Tinubu emphasized the significance of addressing security concerns. He highlighted that a secure Nigeria benefits the country, contributes to the stability of the Sahel region, and provides support to neighboring nations.

During the first News Agency of Nigeria Annual International Lecture in Abuja, themed “Insecurity in the Sahel (2008-2024): Dissecting Nigeria’s Challenges—Genesis, Impacts and Options,” Tinubu reiterated his unwavering commitment to addressing security challenges. Represented by National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, he expressed determination to combat terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, and other criminal elements, underlining the government’s steadfast dedication to the security of its citizens.

Additionally, former military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, highlighted the intricate web of Nigeria’s security challenges with the broader regional context, emphasizing the Sahel’s emergence as a significant conflict zone. Chief of Defense Staff General Christopher Musa attributed the regional instability to both local and foreign factors during his goodwill message.
