A military helicopter operated by the African Union crashed at the airport in Mogadishu, Somalia, killing at least three people.

The helicopter, arriving from Baledogle Airfield, had eight people on board and was originally from the Ugandan Air Force. Three survivors were treated for burns, and five passengers are unaccounted for.

The crash caused munitions on board to explode, injuring three nearby civilians. Minor flight delays occurred, but operations at the airport have resumed.

The African Union mission in Somalia, which includes over 11,000 troops, supports Somali authorities in fighting the al-Qaeda-linked group al-Shabab.
