Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, the Gambia Ministry of Information, announced that 39 candidates have been selected from a pool of 116 individuals interviewed under the Gambia-Spain labor agreement. These selections are part of a shortlist of 1,050 applicants derived from an initial pool of 10,111.

Approximately 10% of the original applicants were shortlisted based on the authenticity of their documentation, including a valid passport, a certificate of character, and a medical certificate. Preference was given to candidates with agricultural experience, particularly in fruit gardening, and to married applicants with children. The eligible age range for candidates is between 25 and 50 years.

Ultimately, 350 candidates will be selected. The documents of the successful candidates have been submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for translation and authentication. While the selection includes men and women, the specific gender breakdown is pending confirmation from Spanish authorities. Interviews were conducted by three separate panels: one in Spain via video link, another at the Spanish Embassy, and a third in Banjul.
