The Career In-Depth Launch Event Focuses on Empowering Youth Through Mentorship

The Career In-Depth initiative was launched Friday at The Insight Training Center in Sinchu Alagie. The event brought together prominent speakers and aspiring professionals to discuss the vital roles of mentorship, integrity, and resilience in shaping successful careers.

Focusing on empowering youth, the event highlighted the necessity of support systems and ethical principles as young individuals navigate their professional aspirations.

Omar Bah, the founder of Career In-Depth, expressed gratitude for the attendees’ support and trust. He reiterated the organization’s commitment to equipping young people with the knowledge and skills to thrive in their professional journeys. Omar stressed the importance of family support in pursuing career goals, sharing a personal account of how his family’s encouragement has driven his success.

Dr. Yankuba Jabbie from EFSTH emphasized the necessity of initiatives like Career In-Depth, which aim to empower youth by providing essential resources and support. “I wish I had something like this when I was in high school,” he reflected, encouraging students to explore their options and plan for their futures. He asserted that external influences should not mislead individuals about their aspirations, stating, “Just because a friend is pursuing a particular path doesn’t mean it’s the right one for you.”

Magistrate Mben Faal from the Kanifing Magistrate Court also addressed the audience, highlighting the role of integrity in the legal profession. She recounted a personal experience that tested her resolve and underscored the importance of adhering to ethical principles, even in the face of external pressures. “Integrity is more than just honesty; it is the consistency of actions and the willingness to hold others accountable,” she stated.

Fatou Saine Gaye, the CEO of Gaye Nyorro, shared the challenges she faced while pursuing her education, particularly the lack of support from her parents regarding her chosen field of study. She explained that her unwavering passion and determination to persuade her parents ultimately shaped her into the successful leader she is today.

Fatou highlighted the importance of organizations like Career In-Depth, which provide essential mentorship and training to help individuals effectively navigate their career paths. She urged attendees to seek the blessings and support of their families in their pursuits, emphasizing, “Whatever you choose to do, gaining your family’s support is crucial.”
