The Gambia senior football team is gearing up to compete against the national teams of Comoros and Tunisia. The Scorpions will face Comoros, Tunisia, and Madagascar as part of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, starting with a match against Comoros on September 4 at the El Abdi Stadium in Morocco.

Jonathan, 38, spoke to reporters at the Gambia Football Federation, expressing confidence in the Scorpions’ ability to win against their upcoming opponents. He acknowledged the formidable challenge posed by Comoros and Tunisia but emphasized The Gambia’s strong track record against North African teams, instilling confidence in the team’s prospects. He stressed the importance of respecting their opponents while maintaining confidence in their abilities to secure points.

The new Irish coach made some changes to the team, citing the competitive nature of international football and the need for players to prove their worth continually. Some players were omitted due to injuries, lack of match fitness, or insufficient playing time at their respective clubs. The coach emphasized the importance of competition and performance, stating that the expectation in international football is for players who are in good form and ready to represent their country.
