PS Yabou engages with UN Special Representative Dr. Najat Maalla M’jid to enhance child protection efforts.

On December 8th, The Gambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a meeting with Dr. Najat Maalla M’jid, the UN Special Representative on Violence Against Children.

The discussion centered on child protection progress in The Gambia, addressing issues like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and maltreatment in schools. Ambassador Lang Yabou emphasized the government’s commitment to child protection, highlighting the need for partnerships and community engagement.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to enhance cooperation and strengthen child protection mechanisms in The Gambia.
