In a significant move to enhance the operational capabilities of the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), President Adama Barrow has donated five buses and five tractors, thereby improving both personnel transportation and agricultural initiatives.

This donation was made during a ceremonial event at the State House in Banjul.

The provision of these vehicles underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening national security and promoting food self-sufficiency, which aligns with the National Development Agenda.

President Barrow highlighted the importance of improving the transport logistics of the GAF for timely mobilization and operational efficiency.

Lt. Gen. Mamat O.A. Cham, Chief of Defence Staff, expressed his gratitude for the donation, noting that it will significantly revitalize the GAF’s transport system and enhance agricultural productivity. He also acknowledged the contributions of past leaders in establishing the GAF Agricultural Drive and reaffirmed the military’s dedication to supporting national food security.

The event concluded with the official handover of keys and a demonstration of the new vehicles by President Barrow and the GAF High Command, marking a pivotal moment in the ongoing transformation of the security sector under democratic principles.
