In the first half of 2025, Nigeria exported 663 million metric tonnes of goods to 11 ECOWAS nations, a year-on-year increase.
It also shipped 488 million metric tonnes valued at $83.5 million to 21 other African countries, marking a 2.59% rise in value.
Mrs. Nonye Ayeni of the NEPC attributed this growth to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement, benefiting small and medium enterprises.
Major exporters included Indorama Eleme Fertiliser and Chemical Ltd, Starlink Global, and Ideal Ltd. Notably, 94% of exports were processed through seaports, and the NEPC conducted over 250 training sessions for more than 27,000 Nigerians on export procedures.
