The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in The Gambia is urging immediate action to combat sexual harassment in workplaces through a workshop promoting its Generic Sexual Harassment Policy.

Chairperson Emmanuel D Joof stressed the importance of the policy for creating safe work environments and emphasized that sexual harassment is a human rights issue affecting everyone.

He pointed out the inadequate reporting mechanisms in many institutions and introduced a model policy for effective responses. Joof called on stakeholders, including government and private sector representatives, to actively participate in the workshop and commit to policy implementation, reinforcing the NHRC’s dedication to holding institutions accountable.
