During the “Mansa Kunda” conference on September 12, Information Minister Dr. Ismaila Ceesay provided insights into the newly established Ministry of Information, Media, and Broadcasting Services. The primary objective of this ministry is to enhance public transport and promote transparency. He alluded that
The ministry was formed by separating it from the previous Ministry of Information.
Its aims include fostering open information sharing, educating the public about government policies, and ensuring clear communication between the government and its citizens.
The ministry will focus on promoting national unity, modernizing the broadcasting sector, and upholding accountability and professionalism in the communication sector.
Special communication officers have been appointed in each government ministry to deliver timely and accurate information.
The Gambia Daily has transitioned to a twice-weekly publication, with plans to move to daily issues in the future.
JRTS TV and radio services are now available nationally via satellite.
Dr. Ceesay emphasized the need to update media legislation to more effectively address contemporary issues such as digital content, privacy, and misinformation.
