Customs officials from The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) stationed at Banjul International Airport seized three packages containing a total of 26.4 kg of ecstasy pills at the redcoat checkpoint yesterday.
The GRA emphasized that this operation underscores the dual role of its customs officers, who are dedicated to revenue collection and safeguarding national security.
Customs Manager Awa Mendy Samba coordinated with the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG) and other relevant security agencies to ensure the proper handling and transfer of the seized drugs, reflecting a strong collaborative response to illicit activities at the nation’s borders.
The authority added, “While the GRA remains committed to enhancing revenue collection, we are equally focused on ensuring the safety and security of the state. Our officers are working tirelessly to prevent the influx of illegal substances into the country, contributing to a safer environment for all.”
