The Gambia Police Force inaugurated a new police station in Essau, North Bank Region, on August 2, as part of its initiative to modernize the police service.
The project, primarily funded by the UNDP, which covers 95% of the expenses, with the GPF contributing the remaining 5%, aims to improve security and bolster public confidence.
The facility includes accessibility ramps, support rooms for victims of sexual offenses, humane detention cells, and workspaces for law enforcement personnel.

Interior Minister Abdoulie Sanyang emphasized that this project represents a significant achievement for national progress and security.
Inspector General of Police Seedy Muktar Touray stated that the station adheres to international standards and plays a crucial role in facilitating cross-border traffic.
Local leaders, including North Bank Region Governor Lamin Saidykhan, expressed their pride in how the new facility will benefit community development.
