Last week, 30 young girls graduated from the FASHION 4 leadership program in The Gambia, which focuses on community peacebuilding and women’s leadership.
Funded by the government through the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Welfare, and in collaboration with the UNFPA and the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund, the program was coordinated by the Network Against Gender-Based Violence (NGBV) and implemented by the Maa Foundation for Women.
Ideas Fashion & Design School provided training in tailoring and leadership. Each graduate received a sewing machine from Qatar Charity and the FaBB Foundation.
The Minister for Gender emphasized the importance of equipping girls with skills, while local officials praised the program as vital for grassroots empowerment.
