According to sources from the Turkish diplomatic circle, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke with Gambian President Adama Barrow over the phone on Thursday. The two leaders talked about the relationship between Turkey and The Gambia, Israel’s recent assaults on Gaza, and the upcoming 15th Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit, which is set to be held in Banjul, the capital of The Gambia, this weekend.
Erdoğan emphasized the importance of the Muslim world acting in unity to stop Israel’s assault on Gaza and ensure it adheres to U.N. resolutions. He also told Barrow that he wished the negotiations and decisions made at the OIC summit would be beneficial, where Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan would represent Türkiye.
Türkiye and Gambia can take joint steps to advance their bilateral relations in the coming term, Erdoğan added.
