A cholera vaccination initiative launched in Darfur on September 21, 2025, aims to vaccinate 1.86 million people amid an outbreak with over 12,000 cases and 358 deaths since May.

Supported by the WHO, UNICEF, the Sudanese Ministry of Health, Gavi, and ICG partners, the campaign began in Nyala and Ad Daein and plans to expand to Tawila.

The 10-day effort aims to reach 97% of the affected population, emphasizing the importance of vaccines, clean water, sanitation, and treatment in combating cholera, particularly amid the ongoing conflict that disrupts health services.
