Mayor Talib Ahmed Bensouda of Kanifing Municipality has launched the United Change Movement to participate in the 2026 presidential election in The Gambia.
He highlighted socio-economic challenges facing Gambian youth and called for national unity. The movement aims to evolve into a political party focused on inclusive governance, economic reform, and social justice.
Bensouda’s departure from the United Democratic Party (UDP) is seen as a challenge to both the UDP and the National People’s Party, potentially appealing to younger voters seeking change.
