The first Global South Economic Forum was held in Abu Dhabi, with nearly 100 representatives from over 20 developing countries in attendance. The Center of Geoeconomics for the Global South organized this forum to highlight the voices of developing nations, aligning it with the G7 Summit.

Key topics included the importance of the Global South’s population and GDP, the need for reforms in international economic governance, and promoting multipolarity for sustainable development.

Participants discussed challenges such as geopolitical conflicts, financing gaps for sustainable development, and the need for technological independence. They emphasized the importance of international cooperation, especially in the Middle East.

Zhang Yiming, the Chinese Ambassador to the UAE, highlighted the shared goals of development and the need for collaboration among countries in the Global South.
