NHRC commissioners and staff are visiting prisons and detention centers nationwide.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has initiated a countrywide monitoring effort of prisons and detention facilities to assess their conditions and adherence to international human rights standards, such as the Nelson Mandela Rules.

Although there have been some advancements in the prison system, considerable shortcomings persist, and the evaluation will underscore both achievements and aspects requiring improvement.
