An international court in Washington, DC, has temporarily banned Niger from selling uranium reserves due to a dispute with the French mining firm Orano.

The court ordered Niger to halt the sale and release Orano’s representative, who had been detained since May. Following a military junta takeover in 2023, Niger expelled French military personnel and suspended Orano’s operations.
