Auditor General Modou Ceesay is contesting his dismissal by President Adama Barrow in the Supreme Court, with attorney Lamin J. Darboe set to file the lawsuit shortly.
Ceesay was ordered not to go to work, and both his office key and vehicle were taken from him. Barrow allegedly offered him a ministerial role, which Ceesay turned down.
Darboe contends that this case is vital for safeguarding the autonomy of national institutions and democracy, describing Barrow’s action as a regression for Gambian democracy and stressing the importance of maintaining the rule of law.
