The National Union of Petroleum and Gas Workers (NUPENG) in Nigeria plans to go on an indefinite strike starting September 8, alleging that Dangote Refinery is blocking newly hired drivers from joining unions.

Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has urged government intervention, citing violations of constitutional and labor agreements.

While some driver groups will not join the strike, the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria will pause operations for three days in support.

This situation could disrupt fuel supply and economic activities, emphasizing the importance of balanced labor relations.
