Sidi Ould Tah is now the 9th President of the African Development Bank Group

Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, elected with over 76% of votes, assumed office as the ninth AfDB President on September 1, 2025, aiming to drive reforms, partnerships, and peace-focused investments in his first 100 days.

Dr. Sidi Ould Tah became the ninth President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) on September 1, succeeding Dr. Akinwumi A. Adesina after receiving over 76% of shareholder votes.

In his first speech, he outlined four key goals for his first 100 days: listening, initiating a reform agenda, strengthening partnerships, and expediting solutions, with a focus on improving investment models for peace and stability.

Ould Tah has over 40 years of experience in development banking and holds a PhD in Economics. The AfDB has $318 billion in capital and has approved $102 billion in development financing over the past decade.

Various dignitaries and international representatives attended his swearing-in ceremony.
