On August 26, 2025, President Adama Barrow announced the establishment of a new committee to review recent telecommunications pricing rules issued by the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA).

This committee includes members from different government ministries and regulatory bodies. Its goal is to conduct an unbiased review based on evidence showing the government’s commitment to transparency.

The Gambian government acknowledges public concerns and pledges to safeguard citizens’ rights to access fair and affordable services. Updates will be provided regarding the consultations.
