On August 16, SAACS Empowerment Network honored 50 individuals at the “Champions of the Smiling Coast 50 Jubilee Award Celebration” for their contributions to The Gambia.

Founded by Sainabou Mbye, the initiative recognizes unsung heroes and has expanded from 10 women to a broader platform. Mbye, who received an Honorary Doctorate in Nigeria, highlighted the importance of Gambians’ contributions.

Banjul Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe praised Mbye’s dedication to national progress and emphasized the crucial role of women’s empowerment in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
