On August 4, Sudan has alleged that the UAE is sending Colombian mercenaries to assist the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) amidst its civil war, claiming to possess “irrefutable evidence” but failing to provide any details.

The UAE has vehemently refuted these claims, asserting that they are designed to hinder peace initiatives.

The civil conflict, which erupted in April 2023, has led to more than 40,000 fatalities and has displaced approximately 12 million individuals.

Sudan has previously charged the UAE with supplying arms to the RSF, a claim that the UAE has also denied. Both the Sudanese military and the RSF have been implicated in severe human rights abuses.
